Chemistry - interaction of matter
atoms → molecules → cells
atoms assemble and bond to make molecules
a slew of different type of molecules can make cells

- Many physiology processes are performed by chemical reactions/interactions
Elements
- Pure substance with all the same atom
- Periodic Table contains all the known elements

- The type of element is determined by the number of protons in the nucleus, known as the atomic number.

- Element: One of ninety-two distinct substances, each with unique chemical properties. (A subatomic particle)!!!!!!!!!
- Atom: Particle consisting of nucleus and orbiting electrons.
- Molecule: Particle formed by chemical bonding of two or more atoms.
- Matter: Anything with weight and that takes up space.
• Mixtures: Matter can also be mixtures, which are combinations of pure substances that retain their individual properties and can be separated by physical means.
- Anything that has weight and takes up space is defined as matter, which is composed of many different types of elements.
- Different elements, such as oxygen and hydrogen, are composed of particles called atoms, each with a structure unique to that element (unique numbers of protons, neutrons, and electrons).
- Atoms can combine to form larger particles called molecules. Atoms combine by forming attractions called chemical bonds.
